Whitney Houston – The Multi-Talent
Whitney Houston was born in August of 1963 in East Orange, New Jersey, to a talented family that encouraged her to develop her abilities as a singer thus putting her on the right path to international stardom.

Whitney began a very promising and successful career in modeling. In 1981, she appeared in the US magazines Cosmopolitan and Young Miss and on the covers of Glamour and Seventeen. The modeling business led to some acting offers such as roles in the comedies "Silver Spoons" and "Gimme A Break", but the future of singing still called for her and remained a dream for her.

Whitney’s first album that carried her name was released in the US on Valentine’s Day of 1985 and its success was historic although it took the young artist several months before she was truly a hit. The Whitney Houston album had sold over 14 million copies to become the all-time best-selling debut album in the US and the most successful solo album ever released by a black female artist.

In 1987, Whitney released her second album, “Whitney”, which contained many excellent songs. The album was an awesome success as it hit the UK No.1 and went to the top of the album chart in the first week of release making Houston the first female solo artist ever to do so.

"I’m Your Baby Tonight" was Whitney’s third album that made other successes and was Whitney’s ninth No.1 US hit single in December of 1990. Whitney’s other successes included her starring of the 1992 smash-hit "The Bodyguard" with Kevin Costner. The album of the movie also featured six new Whitney Houston tracks that were successfully released before as singles on their own and included the breathtaking and extremely successful ‘I Will Always Love You’.

Her next movie, "Waiting To Exhale", was released in 1995 followed by a starring role in "The Preacher’s Wife" in 1996. Her fourth album, "My Love Is Your Love", was released in 1998 and was certified triple platinum in the US. The year 2000 witnessed the release of Whitney’s fifth and latest album, "The Greatest Hits", that included some of the best and rarest of her songs over the previous 15 years.
